Job Description:

Our client, a provider of a range of outsourced investment services, is looking for a Tax Team Leader. The tax team are responsible for timely and accurate tax reporting on behalf of our clients, principally for inclusion in UK and US tax reports. The tax team leader plays a key role in coordinating all this activity across the client base; ensuring the delivery of accurate taxation information in a timely fashion as part of tax reporting and working with the clients to understand and interpret regulations and requirements.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Technical knowledge and understanding of the UK tax landscape.
  • Recognised operational tax qualifications.
  • US tax reporting experience.
  • Experience with managing third-party relationships.
  • Strong experience in collaborating with others.
  • A successful record of implementing operational tax related change.
  • Strong developmental and mentoring skillset.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Regulatory awareness.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Be an escalation point for tax queries internally and from clients.
  • Holistically own the tax function and help the Data Governance Manager drive the strategic direction of the team as part of the wider business strategy.
  • Suggest services that can be promoted commercially.
  • Own and drive forward process improvements, automation, and enhanced controls.
  • Effectively escalate issues to management and ensure required action taken to resolve.
  • Work proactively with operational teams to drive 'right first time' processing and share best practice.
  • Work with Corporate Actions team leader to ensure that dividends are processed in accordance with the relevant tax regime, including the correct treatment of Group 1 & Group 2 positions and equalisation.
  • Monitor compliance with the US Qualifying Intermediaries regime, ensuring appropriate client documentation is held and the relevant returns are filed accurately on time.
  • Provide quality assurance support to the client reporting processes to ensure that taxation treatments are correctly reported.
