Job Description:

A leading pension and investment firm are seeking a number of experienced project managers to help drive change and innovation in the business. You will be responsible for leading key work streams, experienced in managing multi million budgets and creating producing all governance and reports. Financial services experience is preferred but not essential.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Proven track record of managing projects/programmes including the appropriate management methodologies and techniques
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience of influencing senior level stakeholders
  • Ability to work positively with the wide range of individuals involved in the projects/ programmes
  • Strong leadership and management skills, able to create a sense of community amongst the members of the programmes
  • The ability to find innovative ways to resolve problems
  • Project/Programme level financial/ budgetary skills
  • Experience of risk assessment and management principles and processes

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Prince 2 (or similar Project Management Accreditation)

Core Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Business Sponsor, other relevant stakeholders and the project team to scope, define and plan the project. This includes ownership for producing a commercially viable Business Case, which is in line with business strategy
  • Apply project management tools and team collaboration techniques appropriately to effectively manage the project through the change life cycle to successful delivery, delivering the outcomes as per the business case
  • Successfully source appropriate resources to ensure work streams or projects are adequately resourced; especially where resources are specialised and/or limited and therefore challenging to secure
  • Produce and actively maintain good quality project documentation, including plans, actions, decisions, RAID logs, change requests, incidents and governance in line with the project objectives to ensure successful delivery
  • Identify and actively manage stakeholders (typically up to SMQ level and Management Board Level) throughout the project to ensure project sponsor, steering group and other stakeholders are kept informed of project progress
  • Implement and operate effective and robust governance and control environment in line with the change management framework
  • Create and maintain a partnership with delivery teams and/or Outsource Providers, also holding these parties to account, as per the delivery agreements made during Project Initiation
  • Conduct project reviews, ensuring projects formally close, reviewed and lessons learned captured/actioned as appropriate
  • Determining when project risks and issues can be dealt with internally and where they need to be escalated to senior stakeholders
  • Build strong relationships with project team members and other stakeholders when typically there is no direct line management responsibility. Collaborate effectively across both internal teams and external organisations/strategic partners
  • Strong problem solving skills. Provide strong leadership and critical decision making skills to support the organisation in both the delivery and the adoption of change
  • Responsible for combined project budgets typically up to £5 million with cross functional project teams
  • At times, may be required to undertake line management. Provide coaching, mentoring and support to their team to ensure a strong focus on the business objectives
