Job Description:

Our client, a provider of high-quality long-term investment capabilities, is looking for a Project Management Office (PMO) Manager based in Edinburgh to join the Global Project Management Office (GPMO). The responsibilities include oversight of EMEA-based GPMO staff, managing the day-to-day activities, providing guidance on GPMO policies and processes, GPMO management reporting and hands-on project management.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Extensive experience in the global financial services industry, preferably asset management.
  • Extensive experience in Project Management Office
  • Experience in project architecture standards, blueprints, road maps.
  • Experience in matrix reporting lines within global organisation.
  • PMP / Prince 2 / Agile qualification and / or Lean Six Sigma qualification is desirable.
  • Demonstrable experience in making sound decision and judgement in face of adversity, to resolve any roadblocks and issues.
  • Self-starting, driven individual able to effectively operate in environment with competing priorities and ambiguity.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing EMEA GPMO team consisting of project managers and business analysts.
  • Preparing high-quality consolidated project and management reports for senior management.
  • Developing new, and improving existing, GPMO policies and processes.
  • Promoting the adoption and usage of project management tools, processes, and methodologies, and making recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Continuously evaluating projects to ensure they are meeting company standards, adhering to budgets, and meeting deadlines.
  • Overseeing the development of projects and ensuring that team members are carrying out their tasks efficiently while upholding the company's standards.
  • Accurately documenting the project's planning, execution and closure as well as documenting the project's scope, budget, and justification.
  • Developing robust and achievable project plans, including management of timescales, scope, risks, and budgets.
  • Tracking, managing and prioritising project activities deliverables towards agreed outcomes, and identifying and developing mitigation strategies to ensure projects remain on track.
  • Tracking, managing and prioritising expenditure against budget working closely with Finance.
  • Developing and managing effective stakeholder engagement plans and communication plans to ensure appropriate management of key stakeholders locally and globally.
