Job Description:
Our client, a leading fin tech firm is looking for a Senior Security Operations Engineer to be a part of their dedicated security team in Edinburgh. You will have experience in the IT operations environment, engineering, and vulnerability management and can make sure a difference. This is a very exciting time to join the business as they undergo significant growth and transformation
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Extensive experience of improving security within IT operations environments
- Knowledge of working with security focused tools, we currently use systems like Defender ATP, Splunk, Tenable and Duo
- Experience implementing controls for active directory and secure cloud environments.
- Exposure to agile methodologies and practices such as SCRUM or Kanban
- The ability to communicate at all levels, translating technical language to non-technical naturally when required.
- Analytical and logical, resolving problems and reporting deficiencies.
- Ability to work well with others and building relationship.
- Ability to work under pressure, good work ethic and high levels of motivation.
- A team player, approachable, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile.
- Experience of using collaboration tools such as Jira, Wiki, MS365 Office is desirable.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Experience within the financial services sector
Core Responsibilities:
- Adding layers of defence to our internal system, largely with the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, aligned to industry standards and known threats.
- Reviewing dashboards and investigating alerts for incidents and deviations from policies, while also looking for ways of improving these processes
- Maintaining our SIEM tool by getting hands on with the code and configuration
- Managing cyber security issues/incidents for our core infrastructure
- Providing security training
- Working with 3rd parties and other team members on security assessments of our infrastructure
- Ongoing management of controls, risks, and associated actions
