Job Description:
Our client, a leading professional services firm, is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join their established Business Advisory team in Edinburgh, Glasgow or Stirling. This is a key role involving a blend of compliance and advisory work across a diverse portfolio of clients, offering significant scope to make an impact and develop professionally.
Skills/Experience:
- Relevant professional tax qualification (CA, ATT, CTA or equivalent)
- Proven experience in a similar mixed tax role, encompassing both compliance and advisory work
- Strong technical expertise in Corporate and Personal Tax
- Demonstrable leadership and team management skills
- Experience of managing client portfolios to tight deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage clients and colleagues at all levels
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage the annual tax return compliance process for companies, individuals, and partnerships
- Deliver high-quality tax advisory services, including:
- Tax-efficient remuneration planning
- Corporate tax planning
- Succession planning
- Capital Gains Tax and benefits-in-kind advice
- Demonstrate detailed knowledge of income and capital taxes, identifying other relevant taxes (e.g. VAT, International Taxes, LBTT, Stamp Duty Taxes) and collaborating with colleagues to provide comprehensive client solutions
- Effectively delegate work to team members, monitoring progress and reviewing outputs at both manager and partner level
- Identify value-added opportunities for clients during accounting and tax review processes
- Work collaboratively across business units to coordinate annual compliance for a large, diverse client base
- Prepare proposals and quotes for new clients, managing the onboarding process in line with firm procedures
- Produce technical content such as blogs, articles, and presentations to share expertise and enhance client engagement
