Job Description:
Our client, a leading wealth management firm, is seeking an experienced Portfolio Director to join their MPS team in Liverpool. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring a robust and scalable investment process, delivering high-quality client communication, and supporting adviser adoption and retention through strong portfolio oversight and technical expertise.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to portfolio performance, proposition evolution, and broader business growth within a collaborative and highly professional environment.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Significant experience managing portfolios at scale and complexity within a discretionary or model portfolio environment
- Strong technical investment expertise across portfolio construction, risk management, and performance analysis
- Proficiency in investment research and analytics tools such as FactSet, Morningstar Direct, and FE Analytics
- Demonstrated ability to produce clear, high-quality investment communications and content
- Proven track record of delivering excellent client service and contributing to business performance and growth
- Strong understanding of investment risk procedures, regulatory requirements, and governance frameworks
- Experience working with adviser-led distribution models and supporting client-facing stakeholders
- Professional qualification at Level 7 (CFA or CWM preferred)
- Experience in client administration and regulatory compliance within an investment or wealth management environment
- Collaborative leadership approach with the ability to mentor and support junior colleagues while contributing to a high-performing team culture
Core Responsibilities:
- Define and implement investment strategies aligned to model risk profiles using appropriate systems, tools, and market insight
- Oversee portfolio construction, performance monitoring, and ongoing market analysis, including economic and geopolitical developments
- Manage and monitor portfolio risks including tracking error, volatility, drawdown, and cost budgets, ensuring alignment with risk ratings and investment objectives
- Maintain investment governance documentation, including model change rationales, committee materials, and regulatory evidence
- Ensure timely and accurate model implementation across third-party platforms and resolve operational exceptions where required
- Provide clear and insightful portfolio updates to advisers, covering performance drivers, positioning, risk metrics, and suitability
- Produce investment content including factsheets, reports, thought leadership, and market outlooks in collaboration with internal stakeholders
- Deliver adviser training and develop supporting materials to enhance understanding and adoption of the proposition
- Gather market and adviser feedback to support ongoing development of the investment offering
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to internal forums, committees, and business initiatives
