Job Description:
Our Edinburgh based client is seeking an experienced IT Service Delivery Consultant to lead a strategically important project focused on the future delivery of outsourced IT services on an initial 9-month fixed-term basis.
Working closely with senior stakeholders across technology, operations, risk and governance functions, you will be responsible for developing a comprehensive service specification that will underpin the procurement of a future Managed Service Provider (MSP) arrangement.
Skills/Experience:
- Proven experience delivering complex IT procurement or re-procurement initiatives, particularly involving managed or outsourced technology services.
- Strong understanding of IT service delivery models and service management best practice.
- Demonstrable experience translating technical, operational and security requirements into procurement-ready documentation.
- Excellent requirements gathering, analysis and documentation skills.
- Strong stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to influence, facilitate discussions and build consensus across diverse groups.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs within agreed timescales.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong governance awareness and highly developed written communication skills.
- Knowledge of information security frameworks, including ISO 27001 (desirable).
- Experience working within pensions, financial services or other regulated environments (desirable).
- Previous involvement in service transition, supplier onboarding or exit planning activities (desirable).
- Understanding of UK public sector procurement frameworks and supplier evaluation methodologies (desirable).
- Experience supporting third-party risk management and assurance activities (desirable).
Core Responsibilities:
- Partner with stakeholders across technology and business functions to define future service requirements and priorities for a managed service environment.
- Lead requirements gathering and validation activities, facilitating workshops and discussions to build consensus and ensure alignment across key stakeholder groups.
- Develop a comprehensive, procurement-ready service specification covering operational, technical, governance, security and commercial requirements.
- Define expectations for service delivery, performance management, governance and supplier accountability, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and service management best practice.
- Embed security, compliance and risk management requirements within the future service model, supporting effective supplier evaluation and long-term resilience.
- Produce supporting documentation, including key assumptions, dependencies, design decisions and governance records, to ensure a clear and auditable decision-making process.
- Provide project governance support, progress reporting and recommendations to senior stakeholders throughout the specification development lifecycle.
