Job Description

Our client, a highly regarded private bank, is seeking an Assistant Relationship Manager to join their Edinburgh office. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative Client Support team, providing dedicated support to the Directors in the management of a diverse portfolio of private and commercial clients.

The successful candidate will play an integral role in delivering an exceptional client experience, acting as a key point of contact throughout the client lifecycle. The role combines relationship management with a broad range of operational and administrative responsibilities, including client onboarding, payment processing, account opening, deposits, digital banking services and ongoing account administration.

Skills / Experience

  • Previous experience within a banking or financial services support role.
  • Private banking experience is desirable; however, candidates with trust, corporate banking or HNW/UHNW client experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload and manage multiple competing demands.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience supporting senior stakeholders would be advantageous.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • A proactive, client-focused approach with a genuine commitment to delivering exceptional service.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support one Senior Banking Director and two Assistant Banking Directors in the management of a substantial client portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a key point of contact and delivering an exceptional level of service.
  • Support clients throughout the onboarding process, ensuring documentation and regulatory requirements are completed accurately.
  • Manage day-to-day banking administration, including payment processing, account opening, deposits, cards, foreign exchange and digital banking services.
  • Maintain accurate client records in accordance with internal procedures, data protection requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Support Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements for a range of client types.
  • Assist with the preparation of internal credit applications and ongoing monitoring of existing lending facilities.
  • Liaise effectively with internal teams, including Client Operations, Credit Risk and Financial Crime, to ensure seamless client service.
  • Attend client meetings where appropriate and provide ongoing relationship support.
  • Contribute to ad hoc business projects and support new product initiatives as required.
