Job Description:

Our client, a leading financial services organisation, is seeking an experienced Product Owner to join their Proposition team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced product professional to take strategic ownership of a portfolio of mortgage and regulated products, driving innovation, governance and continuous improvement across the full product lifecycle.

Working within a regulated environment, you will collaborate with colleagues across Product, Risk, Compliance and Operations to develop customer-focused lending propositions, enhance digital capabilities and ensure products continue to deliver strong customer outcomes while supporting commercial objectives.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Experience operating within a regulated lending environment.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an excellent understanding of the regulatory landscape.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience balancing customer outcomes, risk management and operational effectiveness.
  • Strong understanding of product governance and product lifecycle management.
  • Experience delivering regulatory, operational and strategic change initiatives.
  • Ability to interpret product performance data and customer insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Experience working collaboratively with Risk, Compliance, Credit and operational teams.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Experience managing third-party suppliers and technology partners.
  • Knowledge of digital transformation, workflow optimisation and automation initiatives.
  • Experience supporting Training & Competence (T&C) activities within a regulated environment.
  • Subject matter expertise in mortgage and regulated lending products.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Own the strategic roadmap for mortgage and regulated lending products and associated customer journeys.
  • Lead the design, enhancement and optimisation of lending propositions, processes and digital capabilities.
  • Ensure lending products deliver fair value, positive customer outcomes and appropriate customer support throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Drive regulatory, operational and strategic change initiatives through effective governance and agile delivery frameworks.
  • Oversee product governance activities, including product approvals, product reviews, pricing changes, policy alignment and product withdrawals.
  • Monitor product performance through management information, customer insight, operational metrics, complaints data and commercial performance measures.
  • Partner with Credit Risk, underwriting and operational teams to align lending policy, risk appetite and customer experience.
  • Support the optimisation of onboarding, affordability assessment, servicing, retention and collections processes.
  • Ensure operational processes and supporting systems remain robust, scalable and compliant with regulatory expectations.
  • Manage relationships with third-party providers and technology partners supporting the lending proposition.
  • Contribute to digital and technology initiatives, including automation, workflow optimisation and enhanced customer self-service capabilities.
  • Maintain oversight of Training & Competence (T&C) arrangements relevant to regulated lending activities.
  • Work closely with Compliance, Risk and operational leadership teams to support quality assurance, coaching and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor customer outcomes, complaints trends, conduct and regulatory developments to identify opportunities for enhancement.
  • Act as the senior subject matter expert for mortgage and regulated lending products across regulatory, operational and customer-focused disciplines.
