Our client, a leading financial services firm based in Edinburgh, is looking to appoint a General Ledger (GL) Lead Controller to join their Finance Operations function in a senior leadership capacity.
In this role, you will be accountable for the effective delivery of General Ledger operations, reconciliations, balance sheet substantiation and period-end close processes across the firm. Overseeing a shared service operating model spanning onshore and offshore teams, ensuring strong financial control, operational excellence and regulatory compliance. In addition, you will establish governance and performance expectations while driving continuous improvement.
Experience:
- Fully qualified accountant, such as CA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
- Experience leading a Finance Operations function within a complex global organisation.
- Strong leadership experience.
- Expertise in General Ledger operations, reconciliations, balance sheet substantiation, financial controls and period-end close management.
- Experience using Oracle.
- Experience leading finance process standardisation would be an advantage.
Core Responsibilities:
- Oversee General Ledger operations, ensuring the accuracy, completeness and integrity of financial data across the Group.
- Own reconciliations and Balance Sheet Substantiation processes, ensuring all balances, journals and outputs are fully supported and audit ready.
- Lead and develop GL Leads across onshore and offshore delivery teams.
- Drive continuous improvement.
