Job Description:
Our client a market leading pension provider is in the market for an actuarial or accounting professional to join an ambitious team in a role that offers an interesting mix of business-as-usual responsibilities as well as participating in impactful projects.
The role is responsible for managing the team that produces quality reporting and analysis for monthly and quarterly IFRS reporting. Working closely with Commercial Finance, the team also produces the IFRS business plan and forecasts. The role works closely with the Reporting Production team to ensure that the results are robust and well explained. The team also provides technical support for IFRS actuarial liability valuation and is responsible for actuarial disclosures in the annual accounts.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Excellent understanding of IFRS
- Excellent knowledge of working in a Sox environment
- Managing reporting and compliance in financial services including detailed understanding of IFRS actuarial reporting
- Working at senior level within an organisation
- Experience of influencing stakeholders at senior management level
- Considerable experience working with large and complex data sets to provide accurate and insightful financial reporting analysis
- Evidence of building and leading a recognised and respected high performing team
- Well-developed communication / influencing skills and experience operating at C-suite level
- Ability to operate on own initiative
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Ability to translate financial information into plans and forecasts
- Extensive analytic capability
- Commercial awareness
- Ability to interrogate IT systems
- Team player who is flexible and organised
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage team effectively to produce timely and high quality IFRS reporting analysis for internal stakeholders
- Own and produce the quarterly Financial Management Information pack which explains the key drivers of the quarterly financial position and explains any significant issues and key accounting matters
- Manage the preparation of the actuarial information as part of the IFRS reporting process. Lead the production of the IFRS business plan as part of annual budget reports
- Provide support to the wider team on capital reporting for the business, including preparation of revenue risks for use in the ICARA Assist in the development & implementation of new accounting methodologies & procedures e.g. IFRS17 and support of a new strategic business plan process
- Ensure that people capabilities, culture and talent management are on track to deliver a high performing team, acting as a role model to embed the firm's purpose in the team
- Lead an effective risk management approach within the team, ensuring all assurance actions are cleared in a timely manner
- Deliver on responsibilities to the wider group, including participation in global initiatives and sharing of best practice with global colleagues
